Children of Divorcing, Divorced or Never Married Parents
Our Policy on Consent, Safety, and
Protecting the Therapeutic Process
At Embrace New Life Counseling & Wellness, we are committed to protecting the emotional health of every child in our care. When children are caught in the turbulence of divorce or separation, our role is to be a safe, neutral place for healing โ not a battleground for adult conflict.
โ๏ธ Written Consent from Both Biological Parents Is Required
We do not provide counseling services to children of divorced, divorcing, or separated parents without the written consent of both biological parents.
This is our requirement when both parents hold rights to the childโs medical or mental health care.
Even in cases of protective orders or limited contact, if the court has not legally terminated parental rights, both parents must sign our consent to treatment form.
There are no exceptions to this policy.
๐ซ We Will Not Be Triangulated or Used to โTake Sidesโ
We are a systemic therapy center, which means we work to strengthen and restore healthy relational systems โ not contribute to dysfunction.
We will not engage in:
Requests to “side” with one parent against the other
Diagnostic labeling to justify custody preferences
Serving as a messenger between parents
Providing therapy to support parental alienation agendas
๐จ Suspected Abuse Must Be Reported to the Proper Authorities
If you suspect abuse:
Call 9-1-1 or your local Child Protective Services (CPS) immediately.
If evaluation for abuse is necessary, we refer families to trained forensic therapists employed or approved by CPS.
Our therapists are mandated reporters, not forensic evaluators. Our role is to provide clinical healing โ not investigative testimony.
What Is Parental Alienation?
Embrace does not participate in tactics that:
Disparage the other parent in the presence of the child
Force the child to choose sides
Restrict contact with the other parent without court order
Create loyalty conflicts by involving children in adult disputes
Coach or script the child on what to say in therapy
Interrogate the child after therapy sessions
We believe children deserve a peaceful, emotionally secure environment to heal from the stress of divorce โ not one where they must carry adult burdens or protect one parent from another.
Our Commitment
We are here to:
Help children regain emotional regulation
Strengthen their sense of safety and stability
Promote healthy attachment to both parents (when safe and appropriate)
Address grief, anxiety, confusion, or anger stemming from family changes
At Embrace, your childโs well-being is our priority โ not a tool for leverage. We respectfully request that both parents honor our policies so we can provide the ethical, healing-centered care every child deserves.
